BC Seniors’ Week runs June 1 to 7 this year, and communities across the province are holding free or low-cost events built around one idea: experience matters. It’s a province-wide nudge to get out, try something, and be around people.
You don’t need to go far to find something happening. Community centres, neighbourhood houses, and seniors centres around Vancouver often put on extra activities during this week, a tea, a walk, a talk, a concert. Calling ahead or checking the notice board at a centre near you is the easiest way to find out what’s on.
If you’ve been meaning to try a new group or program but haven’t gotten around to it, this week is a reasonable excuse to go find out what it’s actually like. Bring a neighbour or a friend along if that makes it easier.
