A brand-new, purpose-built seniors’ centre has opened at 6810 Main Street in South Vancouver. The 11,000-plus square foot building was built with $16.1 million in funding, and it’s now open and ready for programs and drop-ins.
A dedicated building like this means room for more of what seniors centres do best: fitness classes, social programs, meals, and a place to simply show up and see familiar faces. If you live in or near South Vancouver, it’s worth a look even if you’ve never used a seniors centre before.
New facilities like this don’t open often, so it’s worth telling the people in your life who might use it: a neighbour, a parent, or anyone nearby who could use a reason to get out of the house more.
